It was her junior year in high school when a friend asked Miyuki to help paint a cloud on a cyc for their high school production of South Pacific. It was seeing this single perfect cloud on stage during a performance that she knew that creating art for the stage was in the right direction of what she wanted to do for a living. Miyuki went on to attend Meredith College where she spent endless hours and nights on designing, painting, sewing, constructing, and even directing theatre productions as well as interning at a couple of theatre companies. Upon graduating with a BA in theatre, she began designing professionally for local theatres in the Raleigh, NC area. She was chosen as the feature artist of the month in a local newspaper in Feb 2003 and her designs had consistently been in the top theatre designs of the year in the News & Observer newspaper and the Independent Weekly.

At a very delicate moment in her life, Miyuki decided that she needed to update the direction of her career. The rise in popularity of CG animation in feature films and television was increasingly peaking Miyuki’s interest. When she toured the School of Communication Arts in Raleigh, NC, the opportunity to study digital animation was presented to her and she decided to take the chance.

So begins a new chapter in Miyuki’s life and she can’t wait to see what awaits her...
